Our role in the improvement of the Uzbek fruit value chain

fruit processing line uzbekistan

We are proud of the fact that in Uzbekistan,  we work together with organisations like GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the European Union. Recently we contributed data to a market study on plant propagation material in Uzbekistan that the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) publiced on their website. TGS  supplied information that is used in the chapter about the fruit processing developments in Uzbekistan.

We quote from the study:

‘Today, most fruit is sold off the tree before the harvest by traders, consequently their bargaining power is extremely low. Several projects have been initiated by TGS, GIZ, FDI and EU to improve post-harvest fruit storage and the income of farmers. In this context, the government has announced the building of eight Agri-logistic centres using ADB and WB loans; these centres will provide packing and storage facilities’

The post-harvest projects that TGS is involved in are the fruit drying line and the walnut processing line that we installed recently and a cold storage facility that is still under construction.

We are proud to play such an important role in the improvement of the fruit value chain in Uzbekistan!
